Why is it that Salvador Dali posters and Salvador Dali art works are so famous? All of the works this artist created continue to spark the imagination decades after they were produced. There are many reasons behind the fascination with all things Dali, but there can be little doubt that part of the reason that art lovers continue to gravitate towards Dali is that the man and his vision were ahead of their time.

Salvador Dali and Figueres

The historic importance of Dali is boldly evident in Dali’s hometown of Figueres. There can be no doubt that Dali’s life has changed Figueres now and forever. In fact, it is quite clear to residents and visitors alike that their most famous son and the mark he left on the art world has forever altered the town's landscape.

So much of life in Figueres is now impacted in some way or another by Salvador Dali art work and his vision. Nowhere is this more evident than the Dali Theatre Museum.

Dali Posters Feature Prominently in Museum Opening

When the Dali Theatre Museum opened in September 1974, there was a little something extra. That something extra came in the form of several color lithographs designed to help celebrate this historic opening.

Dali created 10 original posters that were intended to be sold as limited editions. These limited editions aimed to help promote and publicize the opening of the Dali Theatre Museum.

Thousands of people ultimately gathered for this opening, which was intended to be one of the most important events of its kind and one of the most important art events of the decade. The images used for these different Salvador Dali posters include images from his etching series, "The Twelve Tribes of Israel" (1972) as well as "After 50 years of Surrealism" (1974).

Salvador Dali Posters and the Dali Theatre Museum

Those wanting a deeper understanding of Salvador Dali surrealism and his art can do more than opting for hanging Dali posters or Salvador Dali prints on their walls. A trip to Dali Theatre Museum is a revelation. Dali wanted the museum to be something of a surrealist object in its own right.

The end result is the largest collection of Salvador Dali art work in the world. What consistently shocks those who are mostly unfamiliar with Dali or only know of his most famous works, such as The Persistence of Memory, is the incredible diversity of Dali’s art.

The Dali Theatre Museum houses not just paintings and sculptures, but other Dali masterpieces including furniture, collages and more. Adding to the impact of the experience is that one room of the exhibit, which when viewed correctly, resembles Mae West’s face. Dali always knew how to engage, surprise and leave people wanting more, and this fact is entirely evident at the Dali Theatre Museum.

The Works of Salvador Dali and the Salvador Dali House

If you want to explore Dali even more, there is a second location that will do nicely. A trip to Cadaques is a real hit with art and Dali lovers. In Cadaques, you’ll find more examples Salvador Dali surrealism at his beach house at Portlligat. This house, where Dali dreamed up many of his great works, is still much the way it was when Dali left it in 1982.

Will this attraction leave an impression? Definitely. It comes complete with a phallically shaped swimming pool and a range of surprises.

Barcelona Budget offers a one day tour including the Museum to see Salvador Dali posters and other artworks, which includes not only a visit to the Dali Theatre Museum in Figueres but also a trip to Cadaques! This tour will definitely be a day that will always stand out in your memory.
